There is no better time to visit New York than fall. While the city is a great destination any time of year, autumn is especially magical. There are many seasonal activities going on and the weather is usually pleasant so you can spend the day outdoors. There are also plenty of activities for cold or rainy days that all ages can enjoy.

Arts and Entertainment

New York City is known for art festivals and fall is no exception. There is an outdoor photography festival from September through December that will display the stunning shots of some very talented photographers. Many of the city’s museums have new exhibits, which provide the perfect way to spend an afternoon when the weather isn’t ideal for outdoor fun. As the nights start to turn cooler, families with children can visit one of the drive-in theaters to see a movie under the stars. Some theaters even offer free shows.

Halloween

New York City is home to plenty of Halloween fun. The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze, on Long Island, is the perfect destination for the whole family. Visitors to this event can see thousands of hand-carved jack o’lanterns with music and synchronized lighting. The annual New York City Halloween parade is an exciting way to creative, spooky, and uniquely designed costumes. If you’re near the Chelsea Market, they are offering live pumpkin carving and trick-or-treating for the kids. Plus, there are plenty of community trick-or-treating events throughout the city.

Beautiful Scenery

What better way to see the changing of the leaves than to walk through one of NYC’s beautiful parks. Fort Tryon Park and Sunken Meadow State Park are both known for their amazing fall displays. Central Park is a must-see for anyone who’s new to the area, not only because of the foliage but also because of the park’s iconic reputation.

There is no shortage of things to do in New York City during the fall season. Autumn brings crisp weather which makes for the perfect day spent outdoors. No matter your interests, you can find plenty to do in the city. Whether you’re artsy, outdoorsy, or just looking for some seasonal Halloween fun, New York City is one of the best places to explore during autumn.
