Living on Long Island is beneficial to many families, especially those with young children. Long Island is filled with fun facts and plenty of activities. From beaches to museums to water parks, the events are endless. Whatever type of day you’d like to spend with your family, you can do it on Long Island; an educational day, a relaxing day in the sun, a day full of adventure at the parks or zoos, etc.
One of the greatest features that Long Island has to offer for families with children is the Long Island Children’s Museum. This museum is so much fun. There are 14 different galleries all with different themes, as well as a large theatre and a climbing structure for some added adventure. The museum’s galleries feature categories such as the outdoors, music, and history. Bring your children here and be sure to have a blast and learn something new. Another great feature is the Splish Splash Water Park. This water theme park has tons of rides, slides, rafts and more. Both thrilling and refreshing, Splish Splash is fun for the whole family.
A personal favorite is the Long Island Game Farm Wildlife Park & Children’s Zoo. This zoo has been around for about 40 years with the most beautiful animals such as peacocks, cougars, kangaroos, lemurs, giraffes, tigers and many more. Kids are welcome to interact with select animals and feed them. In addition to the animals, kids can ride the carnival rides! Another favorite is the Long Island Aquarium and Exhibition Center. This amazing establishment holds more than 80 exhibits. There is absolutely something here for any and every age group. With sharks, sea lions, penguins and the several other colorful creatures of the sea, the aquarium’s variety is truly remarkable.
In addition to these great Long Island Activities, there are many more. Just to name a few, The Big Duck is a great historical structure to visit, Adventureland is a super fun amusement park for the whole family, and Old Bethpage Village Restoration is a very intriguing old-time village that emulates Long Island in the 1800s. These are all equally as worthy as the handful of places that I have listed above, as well as many places and events that I have not mentioned. It would be worth your time to do some research on activities on Long Island, because chances are there is something perfect for you and your family!
